Healthcare providers involved in vascular access management, including:

  • Healthcare professionals performing or assisting in ultrasound-guided vascular access procedures

The course is intended for both clinicians beginning their practice with PICC and midline catheters as well as those seeking to standardize and improve their techniques in line with current evidence and best practice.

Course Topics

  • Clinical anatomy of peripheral and central veins relevant to PICC and midline placement
  • Assessment and management of patients with difficult intravenous access (DIVA)
  • Principles of ultrasound imaging for vascular access
  • Ultrasound-guided venous cannulation techniques
  • Indications, contraindications, and device selection: midline vs PICC
  • Fundamentals of PICC and midline insertion
  • Direct Seldinger Technique (DST) and Modified Seldinger Technique (MST)
  • Step-by-step PICC and midline insertion procedures
  • Aseptic technique and infection prevention strategies
  • Securement and maintenance strategies for midline and PICC catheters
  • Ultrasound-based evaluation of catheter position and selected complications
  • Recognition and management of complications related to PICC and midline use
  • Role and organization of Vascular Access Teams in hospital settings

11.15-14.45 Hands-on session, part one. Groups rotate among 4 stations.

  • US-guided cannulation: short axis (USG + phantoms), Robert Becler
  • US-guided cannulation: longitudinal axis (USG + phantoms), Marceli Solecki

14.15-15.00 Coffee break

15.00-17.00 Hands-on session, part two. Groups rotate among 4 stations.

12.30-13.15 Summary Q&A and discussion

Course Fee: 990 EUR / 4 150 zł. PAYMENT DEADLINE: March 15, 2026
The fee includes participation in the workshops, lunch, and coffee breaks.

Participation Terms

  1. Registration for the Course must be done via the registration form available on the Course website by correctly filling out all required fields of the form and sending it electronically to the Organizer.
  2. Payment for the Course in the amount specified by the Organizer must be made to the bank account: Bank Millennium SA 15 1160 2202 0000 0004 8956 5063 (with the note: course date, participant’s name) or via the electronic payment methods provided by the Organizer.

Cancellation Policy

  1. A participant may cancel their participation in the Course before it begins. The cancellation should be sent by email to: edukacja@csmiwum.pl or in paper form to the Organizer’s address.
    In the case of a cancellation, as mentioned in point 3.1:
    a) If the Organizer receives the cancellation notice more than 30 days before the start of the Course, the Organizer will refund the participant the paid amount, keeping a 5% cancellation fee of the total fee.
    b) If the Organizer receives the cancellation notice 30 days or fewer but more than 14 days before the start of the Course, the Organizer has the right to retain 30% of the total fee.
    c) If the Organizer receives the cancellation notice 14 days or fewer before the start of the Course, or if the participant fails to notify the Organizer of the cancellation, the Organizer has the right to retain the entire payment.
